The mandate of this department is to:
- Oversee the planning and development of essential tourism-related infrastructure in liaison with stakeholders ie Local Authorities and Communities
- Facilitate identification, development and refurbishment of tourism infrastructure development projects
- Develop tourism products and projects in provinces including Community Based Tourism Project CBTs projects;
- Advocate for investments in infrastructure that facilitate tourism growth.
- Coordinate with other governmental departments to ensure infrastructure aligns with tourism needs.
- Monitor and assess the existing infrastructure to identify areas for enhancement, including universal access.
- Ensure development and implementation of Tourism Master Plans.
